1. Bring in boundaries from CAD or draw in PVFARM

  • PVFARM does not generate catch basins for you, you will need to either import from CAD or draw an estimation

2. Open the Terrain and Piles Menu

  • Under Selected Area select the desired boundary

3. Turn on Cut-Fill

4. Set Net Balance (or amount of cut and fill)

  • With your boundary selected, open the object details to get the area of that boundary, then multiply that value by how deep you want the basin to be. (eg, the below will be a 3ft basin and the area is 3.6693 acres (or 159834.7 ft) so, 159834.7 X 3= 479,504)

  • Under “Net Balance” put that result in cubic yards as a negative amount. (eg 479,504 ft = 17,759 cu yds)

6. Run "Update Piles, Cut and Fill"

7. Make sure the basin doesn’t get filled back in

  • After creating your basin, open the boundaries properties

  • Change boundary_type to “Exclude”

  • Be sure to include the excluded boundary when running other grading
