Welcome to the Future! (A 3D Platform)

PVFARM is a 3D platform which means that all objects are located 3 dimensionally in a virtual "scene" (like a video game. This means that both you (the "camera") and objects can move throughout the "scene" in in virtual, 3D space based on X,Y,Z coordinates. Moving objects will be covered in a separate article.

Using your Mouse to Move about the scene

While you can use a trackpad to move about, we suggest a mouse with a scroll-wheel as it will give you better control over your movements in 3D space.

The Mouse controls are the following:

  • Hold down the left mouse button and drag to rotate the view around a vertex in the center of the scene (you'll see a small black sphere appear when you're rotating)

  • Hold down the right mouse button and drag to pan around the scene

  • Scroll wheel zooms in and out

Camera View Shortcuts

In addition to the mouse, there are some shortcuts that will help you orient your view or reset (if you get lost!).

On your keyboard:

  • "1" will change the camera to a side front view

  • "2" will change the camera to a top-down view

  • "3" will change the camera to a side profile view

  • "F" will focus on the selected object or the whole scene if nothing is currently selected (hit the escape key to deselect)

  • "CTRL+F" will change the camera to an Isometric view

Object Viewer Shortcuts

You can also manipulate the scene to view objects (or groups of objects) in different ways.

  • "C" (for cutbox) will create a crop box around the selected object(s) in the scene along with any adjacent objects. Press "C" again to exit this view.

  • "H" will hide the selected object(s)

  • "Shift H" will isolate the selected objects

  • "CTRL H" will show all hidden objects

Where to find these shortcuts (and others) if you forget

Press 'Enter' on your keyboard to get the full list of the hotkeys for all PVFARM commands.

Select one of the hotkeys listed or just click on the one you want

You can also use the search bar to find shortcuts
